Barking Island

2010 · 15 min · Animation, Documentary · Directed by Serge Avédikian

The city's thirty thousand strays are rounded up and shipped to a barren island in the Sea of Marmara to starve within earshot of the shore. Avédikian animates a real historical episode in scratchy ink and wash, and lets the parallel to other deportations sit unspoken.
